From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration 2009
Stage, screen and recording legend Julie Andrews rings in the new year as she hosts From Vienna: The New Year’s Celebration 2009, Thursday, January 1 at 2:30 and 8 p.m. (ET) on PBS (check local listings). Joining her for the annual Vienna Philharmonic holiday extravaganza will be celebrated conductor Daniel Barenboim, who will lead the orchestra in a sparkling program of Strauss waltzes, marches and polkas. The telecast marks the first appearance for each as host and conductor respectively of the program, beamed around the world to an estimated 1.2 billion viewers from the Musikverein, the gilded hall that houses the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

Christmas came early this year for PBS’ Soundstage. Faith Hill chose the show for the first and only full performance of her newly released Christmas album, Joy to the World. Faith’s exclusive full performance of Joy to the World premiers on PBS Thanksgiving week and will be repeated throughout December.
Faith’s extraordinary performance included songs from her entire album, including its first single, “A Baby Changes Everything.” Joined by a thirty-one person orchestra, led by esteemed conductor David Campbell, and a nine person choir, Faith blew the audience away with her unique and powerful interpretations of timeless Christmas standards including, “Silent Night, “Little Drummer Boy,” “Holly Jolly Christmas,” and other classics.
Faith’s Joy to the World taping marks only the second Christmas taping for Soundstage since its inception in 2001. “We were honored that Faith chose Soundstage to present her holiday album,” states Joe Thomas, producer/director of Soundstage. “Soundstage prides itself on presenting unique performances and Faith’s show will certainly be one of our most memorable shows.”
While the majority of Soundstage concerts are filmed before small studio audiences at WTTW’s Grainger Studio in Chicago, Hill’s performance was taped on a set specially constructed for this show within the famed Sears Centre Arena before an audience of nearly 3,000.
A preview of the show is available at:

David’s beautiful Core’ngrato as performed on the PBS special “Amici Forever in Concert” and later produced in DVD is stunning and we adore David’s voice and personality here at ClassyMusic. Celtic Thunder’s Keith Harkin

Damian McGinty
We are in the process of moving our videos to new servers. In the meantime, visit Celtic Thunder’s website for their videos and information: Celtic Thunder

If you love great voices and haven’t experienced Celtic Thunder, you are in for a treat. Wow! The mix of these five guys, both as ensemble and individually, is just a delight of sight and sound. We are particularly enamored by the incredible voice of Damian McGinty (a youngster who will give our favorite, Josh Groban, a run for sure with his powerful voice and he is 12 years younger!). They will be touring in the US and Canada this fall-winter and are a must-see concert.
