Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Birthday in the Park, a concert in honor of Andrew Lloyd Webber 60th birthday, will take place at 6pm on Sunday, September 14 in Hyde Park and be aired by BBC Radio 2 on October 10.
John Barrowman will host the event. Performers will include Lee Mead, Elaine Paige, Idina Menzel, Steve Balsamo, Duncan James, Rhydian Jones, Joss Stone, Hayley Westenra, and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber, alongside the 70-piece BBC Concert Orchestra and the 100-strong Crouch End Festival Chorus.
The evening will include performances of such songs as “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Another Suitcase,” “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Memory,” “Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” “Love Changes Everything,” “No Matter What,” “As If We Never Said Goodbye,” and “Any Dream Will Do.”

One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written is the incredible “Ave Maria” and it is performed daily in all parts of the world by the greatest voices, vocalists, choirs and aspiring artists. One does not need to know the language or intent of the lyric but only to breathe in the beauty of it. The late-great Pavarotti’s version could make you weep; Bocelli’s various versions by Bach, Schubert and Caccini on his “Sacred Arias” CD captures the soul and the new version by brings another beautiful version for our delighted ears and senses. Of the female versions, we like Hayley Westenra’s awesome rendition and so we have created a beautiful Bocelli-Westenra duet. We think it will also delight and encourage you to listen to all of them.
