Josh Groban as “Phantom” in Phantom of the Opera? Can PTO dreams really come true? That’s the “buzz” and “chatter” amongst the JJG Fans of Josh Groban based on the recent BBC OnStage article.   Last year when we created our live “Music of the Night” and “All I Ask of You” videos for YouTube, we asked the question “will Josh be the next Phantom?” We believe he will be a fantastic “Phantom” with his incredible powerful voice, emotion-packed live performances and beautiful brooding dark good looks. What do you think?  See our videos here first and be sure to read the BBC article.

Lee Mead on BBC One’s Any Dream Will Do

“The show is to be broadcast by BBC Radio 2 and is one of several events being staged by the Corporation over the year to mark Lloyd Webber’s 60th birthday on March 22.

Securing the rights for Phantom to be performed in a concert format is a worldwide first for BBC Radio 2, because the composer has not previously allowed the show to be performed outside its official theatre productions…

If he takes the role, Mead is likely to appear alongside American pop star Josh Groban, who is understood to be lined up to play the title role of the Phantom in the concert.

The singer [Josh Groban] is also set to appear in a concert version of the musical Chess, being held in May - also at the Royal Albert Hall.” …more…

  1. Josh Groban is one of the best voices in music today. He and his voice is exactly what Andrew Lloyd Webber has sought since he originally wrote PTO and its music. He is the best judge of what and who he wants to sing his music and if Josh becomes his new Phantom for the sequel, that would be his choice to make since he is the composer and author. No one, without exception, is better equipped to make that determination than Andrew Lloyd Webber. If you don’t agree, tough…it’s not your decision. Don’t listen to it. Josh Groban is and will be, without reservation or exception, “The Voice” of this generation. We will see and hear great things from him and yet he is only 27yo!! An amazing voice and amazing career ahead. Dreams truly do come true!__Carol

  2. Carol, we would also add that this is Josh’s goal and love, to be on stage in musical theatre as this is his background, expertise and future. In Chess, we had a small taste of that future and now that he is maturing in voice and performance, he will excel and silence the gainsayers who would rather see him as a sexy “hip-hop” or “pop idol” of the “unmentionable” degree rather than what he is gifted for. Not going to happen, his future is the stage and he is an intelligent man with excellent folks guiding his career. Pop is fine for now as he grows but he is destined for the stage and Webber can see that and is taking good advantage of it. You are correct, we will see “great things” from him.
